The 12 foot long Borderless map collage was assembled by many neighbors, friends and the community of Albany and El Cerrito for Palestine. Continue scrolling  for the close up!
Guided by three lead collage designers, this mural is a tapestry of collective memory and a love letter to Palestine of the past and of today. We meticulously integrated community contributions—from stitched tatreez and children's drawings and calendars--to intricately cut flora and fauna. Our team spent hours curating archival photography, hand-painting delicate details, and applying gold leaf. This labor of love is only the beginning; we aim to grow this project even further, inviting even more voices into our next community mural.
Every element of this 12-foot collage has a story. To honor these details, we are building an interactive online scroller where you can click on certain elements to learn their meaning and share your reflections. In the meantime, please enjoy this close-up exploration of our community’s labor of love.
